Bibliographic Databases

These are online archives of paper citations, some just contain the citation (information) on a paper, some contatin the whole paper text. You might need an AthensLogon or other subscription to view some of the full articles. The list below is for databases specifically useful for AT.

If you are using CiteULike, then you might want to look at the full list of databases it supports . On the CiteULike page you will also find some tricks for finding papers if they don’t import first time.

Google Scholar

This is an invaluable tool for me, not only does it search through most online bibliographic databases, it also searches for other unplubished work (kinda handy in the AT field). I also use it to try and grab citation information - e.g. if you find a paper reference, but can’t get the citation information into CiteULike (or other), just search for it on Scholar - this will probably turn up a few references to the paper which will probably include one you can import into CiteULike. You might also find that you turn up a free PDF of the paper too!

National Library for Health

Even if you haven’t got an NHS Athens password, this is still useful - it searches bibliographic databases (generally ones that you will be able to get full papers from) and other evidence sources (e.g. reviews, guidance etc). A good place to get full PDF copies of papers (if you have an AthensLogon).
