Speech control of your environment has been possible for a number of years, however uptake within the UK has not been great.

• Sicare Controllers - the main speech controllers used in the UK.
• $50 voice activated remote control - for TV etc.
• PDA based remote control with voice - not tried this.

Barnsley Hospital R&D and Sheffield University are undertaking a number of projects relating to speech control, including the SPECS project - ‘Speech Enabled Environmental Control Systems’.
